REPRESENTATIONAL STATE TRANSFER
REST – the acronym for Representational State Transfer is the architectural style to provide standards amongst computer systems on the internet. It makes it simple for systems to communicate with one another. REST is specifically designed to take advantage of existing protocols. REST can be used over almost every protocol. Typically, it takes advantage of HTTP when used for web APIs. This makes the lives of developers easy. They do not need to install all of the libraries or additional software to take advantage of a REST API design.
SEPM API REFERENCE
Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager contains a set of REST APIs which can connect to and be able to perform Symantec Endpoint Protection manager operations remotely from an external application, such as Symantec Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) and Symantec Web Gateway. You can use the APIs if you don’t have access to the SEP Manager.
You can explore the strength of these APIs by running a scan on SEP endpoints. Alternatively you can use these APIs to quarantine a document or to remove its quarantine status, to write and manage exception policies, and do much more. Each of these APIs is documented by the company.
